Some Thoughts To Consider

October 15, 2007

While I’m confident that we all have those individuals out there who do nothing but irritate us, there have been a couple of people out there in the public circle that have been just spewing an unbelievable amount of idiotic garbage from their ever-gaping maws, and I think that they just deserve a good verbal smacking…

To anyone who doesn’t already know, my personal opinion is that it is ignorant in the harshest sense of the word to push one’s own personal convictions as irrefutable fact; let’s face it, with the philosophers, theoretical scientists, and general “Think Outside The Box”-ers we have today, the fact that 1 + 1 = 2 is entirely refutable, so the fact that you think some Hebrew carpenter who preached Bronze-Age religious dogma is going to come back and smite everyone who thinks you are barking mad for believing in him while riding a white horse with all your dead ancestors adding to the retributive slaughter (read the book of Revelations, I swear to god I’m not making this up) should be a source of embarrassment, not something you angrily force down the throats of the rest of the fucking world. These two are truly beyond description…

Ann Coulter:

As irritatingly outspoken as she is, this raving lunatic has actually made my life quite a bit easier. I barely have to say a thing about her, she’s pretty much done a far better job of discrediting herself than I could dream of… Here are a few of my favorites…

To a disabled Vietnam vet: “People like you caused us to lose that war.”—MSNBC

“I think [women] should be armed but should not [be allowed to] vote.”—Politically Incorrect, 2/26/01

“God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, ‘Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It’s yours.’”—Hannity & Colmes, 6/20/01

I’d love to go on, but any more and I don’t think I could without becoming physically ill… Thanks to the Washington Monthly for the compilation (http://www.washingtonmonthly.com).

Kirk Cameron:

Here’s another beauty for the list. I’m not really sure if Mr. Cameron can actually hear the words as he says them. This is the man who went on a 20-something minute rant about how a banana proves god exists. Well, Kirk ol’ boy, I think that the only thing that your fascination with a banana proves only that you only struggle to accept evolutionary science because you’re still pretty close to the monkey side of the line… Can we teach this guy sign language or something? Read a fucking textbook…

Now I know there are thousands right now thinking “How hypocritical! You say that you shouldn’t force your opinion on others, yet that’s exactly what you’re doing!”

That would be completely valid, except for the fact that I’m not pushing a personal opinion, people… this is just common sense. If you believe in things like these two, whether it is a bronze-age social structure, or god, the Santa Clause for grown-ups, you deserve to be laughed off the stage, and I remain utterly baffled that it isn’t happening yet.

I know today was pretty short, but that’s my two cents. Till tomorrow, just hear me out.
